This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use StudyBuddy.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information, depending on how you sign in:
  • Google Sign-In: name, email, and profile photo from your Google account
  • Email and password: your email address and a securely hashed password (we do not store plaintext passwords)
• Study content such as questions, notes, flashcards, chats, and uploaded images
• Usage analytics and crash reports through Firebase
• Basic device and app information needed to operate the App

2. How We Use Information

• Provide AI study assistance and flashcards
• Authenticate your account
• Sync your data when cloud backup is enabled
• Improve app performance, security, and reliability
• Respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations

3. AI Processing

Questions, images, or study materials submitted for AI features are sent to our servers and processed with Google Gemini. AI responses may not always be accurate and should be verified.

4. Sharing & Third-Party Services

We share data with service providers only as needed to run the App: Google Sign-In when you choose Google authentication, Google Gemini (AI features), Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (usage and crash data), Google ML Kit (on-device features), and Google Play services. If you sign in with email and password, those credentials are processed on our servers only and are not sent to Google for sign-in. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Permissions

• Internet – connect to our services
• Camera – capture study materials
• Notifications – optional study reminders

6. Data Security & Retention

We protect data in transit with HTTPS/TLS and use reasonable security measures for stored data. Passwords for email accounts are stored using industry-standard hashing. Account data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account from within the App, after which associated account data will be removed as required by law.

7. Your Choices

• Delete your account anytime from the App (Profile settings) or see Delete Account.
• Manage app permissions through Android settings.
• Disable optional reminders whenever you want.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes & Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
